Dungeons and Daddies and trying new things

As promised, I’ve written about Dungeons and Daddies’ foray into Mothership and why I’m so excited for it. A huge part of it, as I only realised while writing the post, is that in addition to being writers and filmmakers and very funny people, they’re a table of gamers. So it’s a huge waste of their unique talents and perspective (especially compared to the performer-dominated tables of the other big APs) that they don’t actually play the game of D&D. And that’s also why it’s so exciting when they try new things and actually do follow the rules.

A cool post

I think this thread is great and a really compelling case. I don’t think it’s possible, given the way the world of entertainment works, for people to see APs selling out Wembley and Madison Square Garden and not want to get a piece of that pie.

Skyheist

Blades ‘68 has rapidly become one of my favourite games, so I’m even more of a Forged in the Dark booster for all things heist and crime-related than usual… but Skyjacks does a really great job of a heist-like subplot with Genesys (which it is increasingly making me want to try playing). You can see my thoughts on Tiktok or Instagram.

Another cool post

This thread from Rob Donoghue is great. I actually think alignment is one of the most important features of D&D, and downplaying it because people don’t want to admit that has been one of the game’s huge mistakes. This lays out one of the important influences for the other axis of D&D morality, law vs chaos.

Games?

btw did you know I very occasionally run games through startplaying.games? I have one space left in an upcoming Legend in the Mist mini-campaign, exploring the official Hearts of Ravensdale adventure. Join it, if you’d like!

btw tomorrow is my birthday, so you should tell your friends about the cool stuff i write x
